Hi, I'm Raquel...

I am a writer, reporter, and editor based in Brooklyn. I write about fashion, arts, books, culture, history, and celebrity. My work has been published in The New York Post, The New York Times, Bustle, Artnet, The Daily Beast, Open Magazine, The New Inquiry, Refinery29, TIME, and more. I also teach fashion journalism at Parsons and have led critical-writing workshops for the Arts Journalism program at the Newhouse School at Syracuse University.

I started my career as a copyeditor and then opinions and special projects editor at Forbes, where I helped report and put together rankings of the most powerful people and best prep schools, as well as packages on immigration, pollution, and urbanism. I later edited at Architizer and Metro New York before landing at the New York Post, where I worked as a features reporter. There I interviewed local characters and celebrities alike; covered events such as the Met Gala and the New York Fashion Week; and found fresh ways to write about film festivals, exhibition openings, awards red carpets, and more.
